Community

Community infrastructure is very important to the Kinistin band; with the increase of people housing has come in very high demand. With the addition on the new sub-division some demands were met but housing is still a big issue with the band. The new sub-division will feature another 22 houses. With 2 duplexes already built and another 4 separate units on the way.

Housing

The new subdivision was started in the fall of 2001 and now houses two new duplexes, and 2 separate units. Housing is a great concern with the Band, the population is increasing and there is a housing shortage. With the new core area that is in development, the housing that is placed there in the future should take some of the demands off of housing. There are now 2 new units added to the new core expansion. Click here for a Housing Application form.

Fire Hall

The Fire Hall was completed in the spring of 2002 and now houses a fire truck. A few band members have signed on to be volunteer fire fighters. The band appreciates the volunteers and encourages more members to volunteer if they are able and interested.

Operations & Maintenance (O & M)

Clearly, major expenditures will be required for successfully meeting long term operation and maintenance needs of new Band facilities like the School, Wellness Center/Band Office, Band Hall, Fire Hall, Quonset, water treatment plant, roads, and recreation facilities. It is essential that the availability of operations and maintenance dollars be identified prior to facility development.
