Nibwakawigamig opened its doors in September 1998. The school is dedicated to the children of Kinistin Saulteaux Nation. The school currently provides instruction for children from Kindergarten through grade nine. Nibwakawigamig is dedicated to the children of yesterday who endured hardship of Residential Schools: to those who hid from missionaries that would take them away; to those children whose greatest loss was in being absent from their families, community and traditional Kinistin lands, but most of all, to those children who never returned.

To the children of today: whose faces are filled with hopeful anticipation, which fuelled this project from conception to completion. Their patience and excitement confirms the necessity of a Kinistin Education facility.

To the children of tomorrow: with pride and confidence we offer you the opportunity of an educational experience based on our Saulteaux values and beliefs, in the heart of the community, and in the heart of Kinistin.
