CAP (Community Addictions Program)

This program provides for a full time addictions councilor to work with individuals (both adult and youth), groups, and the community in creating awareness of various forms of addictions (alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc.) and their effects on individuals, family and the community. People who want help can talk and share with the counselor and / or be referred to treatment centers. This program also provides funding for a few activities i.e. Addictions Awareness Week activities, youth activities and STC family camps.

Some of the programs we are working on to bring to the community is: Asset Mapping (is already started and will be ongoing until March), N.A.A.W (we are looking for ideas and volunteers), a 12 week program on Codependency & Life Skills to begin on September 20th, 2005 @ the Band Hall from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and we will be partnering with the school for presentations and workshops on alcohol abuse, drug abuse, tobacco reduction, HIV – Aids presentations and Crystal Meth presentations. We are looking forward to the community’s involvement with all these projects.
