Justice

 

Vision Statement: Kipwapikang has been and is the proper name for our First Nations Lands and in keeping with tradition and honoring the past. We will be known as the Kipwapikang Just Relations Committee. Our vision for Justice will reflect our traditional, cultural, spiritual beliefs, and customs of men, women, and children.

Mission Statement: Based upon the vision statement, the Kipwapikang Just Relations Committee will design Justice Initiatives to facilitate positive change within an individual, family, and the community in a holistic manner. This will mean true justice and healing for the community.

Goals and Objectives:

  • To develop, coordinate, and facilitate community justice services and programs based on community needs incorporating both traditional and non-traditional approaches.
  • To promote crime prevention and deter involvement in the criminal justice system through education and awareness.
  • To provide direction in the planning and development of community based justice services and programs through community consultation and recommendations.

Principals:

The mission of Kipwapikang Just Relations Committee will be guided by the following principals:
  • That the traditional values and beliefs of Kinistin First Nation members will drive the process of restoring traditional justice services.
  • The justice initiatives undertaken by the Kipwapikang Just Relations Committee will be fair, accessible, accountable, and respectful to all members of the community.
  • That the restored justice system of Kipwapikang Just Relations Committee must earn the respect of the community it serves. To achieve the development of Justice initiatives, and must have participation of all within the community.
